Pack your picnic basket and cooler (sorry, no alcohol!), and come enjoy an evening of wonderful music performed by the Laredo Festival Symphony, Wednesday, July the 8th, at 7:00 pm in the Kazen Center, Laredo Community College. Doors open at 6:15 pm, there will be a preshow of the Festival Cello Choir and Trombone Ensemble. and the performance begins at 7:00 pm. Admission is free, so plan to bring your friends and family!

In a career spanning over four decades, Douglas Morrison has brought his love of music to university, youth, and adult orchestras, performing over 280 works by more than 100 composers.
A native of Michigan, Maestro Morrison completed both his bachelors and doctoral degrees at Michigan State University where his major conducting teacher was Professor Leon Gregorian. Prior to that, he studied privately with Dr. Valter Poole, former Associate Conductor of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
Douglas Morrison has conducted orchestras in Detroit, Prague, Czech Republic, and Vienna, Austria; he has conducted and taught at universities in Michigan, New York, East Carolina, and Texas, and has led youth orchestras in Kentucky, Texas, and Tennessee.
Morrison has conducted many pops, outreach, and educational concerts and has appeared as guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator with regional high school honor orchestras throughout Indiana, North Carolina, Virginia, Texas, New Mexico, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi. In addition, his compositions and arrangements have been performed by ensembles in Michigan, Tennessee, Texas, and California.
Douglas Morrison has three grown children, Jessica, Robert, and John and is married to award-winning music educator Julie Taylor Morrison. Trading the podium for the pulpit, Deacon Morrison now serves as Associate Pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church, Memphis.
